Zip Meridian-6

The Jeep Meridian SUV has recently debuted in India, and here, we’ve listed everything you need to know about it.

Jeep India has recently unveiled its new Meridian SUV for our market. Regular readers will know that this new SUV is basically a three-row version of the Jeep Compass, based on the modified version of the next platform. That being said, the creators have worked hard to make Meridian feel unique.

Here, we’ve listed all the key details you should know about the recently unveiled Zip Meridian.

1. Exterior design

The Jeep Meridian can be easily distinguished from the Compass, thanks to its large visual differences in the exterior design. The headlamp and front grille have a different design and the bumpers (front and rear) have been re-styled. The taillight and tailgate designs are also different, and the new SUV gets a unique set of alloy wheels.

To accommodate extra pairs of seats, the wheelbase and rear overhand are larger and the greenhouse is larger. The meridian is also larger in height and width than the compass, which gives it a more impressive road appearance.

2. Interior design

Meridian’s dashboard design and steering wheel are similar to the compass, but the cabin’s color theme is different – brown and black instead of all-black. The three-tiered SUV gets quilted and perforated leather upholstery, which gives it a more premium feel. Currently, it has only been released in a 7-seater incarnation, but a 6-seater version may also be created.

3. Powertrain

The Jeep Meridian will initially come with a single engine option – a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, inline-4 diesel unit – also available on the Compass. Next, it is rated 170 PS and 350 Nm. The gearbox choices in Jeep’s new three-row SUV consist of a 6-speed MT and a 9-speed AT. An AWD option will be available in the AT version, where an FWD option will be offered with both transmissions. A petrol engine option is expected to be added later.

4. Features and equipment

There will be many features on offer, such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charger, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), dual-zone climate control, etc. The list of security equipment will include 6 airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, 360-degree parking camera, and more.
