Updated 2022 Kia Sonet & Seltos launched in India at Rs. 7.15 lakh

The 2022 Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos have gained many new features, including more quality safety equipment when no powertrain has been replaced.

Kia India has announced the launch of 2022 Sonnets and Celts for the domestic market. The updated medium size SUV is priced at Rs. 10.19 lakhs and it goes all the way to Rs. 18.45 lakh (ex-showroom). South Korea’s Auto Major says 13 changes have been made to the lineup, including new features and other modifications.

For example, automatic variants across the range get pedal shifters with multi-drive and traction modes while a new logo and Indigo Pera seats are introduced in the X Line trim. Other new bits include a SUS scaffold plate and a flat-bottom steering wheel with tailgate and mounted controls. Also, the 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine comes with an iMT transmission in HTK + grade.

Another change is the availability of a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox in the 1.5-liter diesel HTX Trim. Safety features include TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), HAS (Hill Assist Control), four wheel disc brakes, BA (Brake Assist), Curtain A. HTX +, etc.

In addition to the Celtos, the 2022 Kia Sonnet has also been launched with a starting price of Rs. 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The equipment list includes new safety features such as four airbags across the range and curtain airbags with HTX + trim. On the outside, the updated compact SUV features new sonet badges and two paint schemes, such as Sparkling Silver and Imperial Blue.

Kia has added an all-digital instrument cluster to the HTK trim. Without any mechanical changes, the 2022 Kia Sonet is equipped with a 1.2-liter petrol, a 1.5-liter diesel and a 1.0-liter petrol engine. Naturally desired petrol delivers about 83 hp whereas turbocharged diesel gives 115 hp and small turbo petrol 120 hp.

For transmission, a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, a six-speed AT, a six-speed iMT, and a seven-speed DCT are available. Sonet’s rivals are Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
