Toyota Urban Cruiser Gives 4-Star Adult Safety Rating by GNCAP

Toyota Urban Cruiser GNCAP crash test

The Toyota Urban Cruiser was able to score a 4-star adult safety rating and a 3-star child safety rating, surpassing the Maruti Vitara Brezza in the GNCAP crash test.

Global NCAP has released its crash test safety report for the Toyota Urban Cruiser, and the results are quite impressive. The smaller Toyota crossover has been able to score a 4-star safety rating for adults, scoring 13.52 out of 17 points. In terms of child safety, the SUV received a 3-star rating with 36.68 points out of a total of 49.

The standard safety features list includes dual front airbags, front seatbelt protectors, front seat belt reminders, ISOFIX child seat anchor points and four-wheeled ABS. According to the safety report, there was adequate protection for the driver’s chest and legs and marginal protection for the thighs. The head and legs, however, had good protection.

The front passenger had good protection around, except for the right thigh, which had marginal protection. For an 18-month-old baby, sitting in a baby seat with the back facing up, the SUV provides good protection for the head and chest. For a 3-year-old child, sitting face down in a baby seat, protection is good for the head but only fair for the chest.

Toyota Urban Cruiser has been able to surpass the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brazer safety score, given a 4-star adult safety rating (12.51 out of 17 points) and a 2-star child safety score (17.93 out of 49 points). However, it should be noted that the Maruti SUV was crash tested in 2018 and in 2020, it was given a midlife update.

Also, the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Toyota Urban Cruiser are about to undergo a generational change. Thanks to the additional safety features on offer like the six airbags, the new model is expected to be much safer than current-gener models. We certainly hope in this case.
