The Maruti Suzuki WagonR topped the sales chart in March 2022 with 24,634 units, up 31 percent from 18,757 units.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) maintained a strong base in the auto space and WagonR led the sales chart in March 2022. The country’s largest carmaker has launched a total of updated WagonRs a few weeks and last month. 24,634 units were sold against a healthy YoY sales of 18,757 units with a 31 percent increase.
The Desire Compact sedan is another regular feature of the top ten monthly sales charts as 18,623 units were recorded against 11,434 units in the same period last year, an increase of 63 percent year on year. The facelifted version of the Baleno was introduced in February with some part-first equipment with several modifications inside and out.
In March 2022, the premium hatchback was in third place with a domestic total of 14,520 units compared to 21,217 units in the same month of 2021 with a YoY negative sales growth of 32 percent. The Tata Nexon rose to fourth place and was the best-selling SUV in the country last month as 14,315 units were registered against 8,683 units.

This has led to a YoY sales growth of 65 percent. The Maruti Suzuki Swift was the fifth best-selling passenger car in the country last month as 13,623 units were recorded against 21,714 units in March 2021, with YoY sales down 37 percent. In the second half of the table, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is in sixth place due to the dominance of the brand with six models in the top ten.
Since the compact SUV made a major upgrade in the middle of this year and last month, it has managed a total of 12,439 units with a YoY increase of 10 percent as against 11,274 units. The Hyundai Creta is in seventh place with 10,532 units, with a YoY negative sales growth of 17 percent against 12,640 units in March 2021.
Tata Motors launched the Punch micro SUV late last year and it has been well-received by customers, judging by its consistent performance in increasing sales volume. It ranks eighth with 10,526 units while Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Suzuki Eeco are ninth and tenth respectively.
