Lincoln is working on a number of electric vehicles and will provide clues about what to expect from an idea set for its April 20 debut.
The new teaser material released on Monday hints at the idea of being a boxy SUV of some sort. In a statement released alongside the teaser material, Lincoln said the idea could serve as “inspiration” for the brand’s EVs in the near future.
We already know that Lincoln will unveil its first production EV later this year, which could be an all-electric aviator paired with an electric Ford Explorer. It is expected to reach dealerships by 2024.
The Lincoln electric car concept was teased before its debut on April 20, 2022.
Four more EVs, including an electric navigator, are expected to join Lincoln’s lineup by the end of 2026. Most of it will ride on a dedicated EV platform designed for medium-sized unibody vehicles. The electric navigator will probably be based on a dedicated EV platform designed for full-size pickup trucks and SUVs. Both platforms were announced during an investor presentation last May.
Other EVs may include compact Corsair and electric versions of the smaller Nautilus. The identity of the fifth EV is not clear but a sedan is possible, possibly to be offered exclusively in China where Lincoln already sells a Jeffrey sedan exclusively. An alternative could be a subcompact crossover.
Lincoln’s Ford Guardian plans to introduce many more EVs for the next decade, including more potential EVs for Lincoln. The automaker is spending $ 30 billion on electrification alone by 2025, and expects 40% of global sales to be generated by EVs by 2030. In March, it established the Ford Model E division, specifically for making EVs and software.
