The BMW i4 is sold worldwide in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations with a claimed driving range of 590km and 510km, respectively.
Following the launch of the iX SUV and Cooper SE electric models, BMW India is preparing to launch the i4 electric sedan on April 28, 2022, before its launch in the market. It will be the first major launch in an electrically luxurious place considering the sedan / coupe body style and the i4 made its world premiere in the middle of last year.
The four-door BMW i4 has an overall length of 4,783 mm, a width of 1,852 mm and a height of 1,448 mm as the Combustion-engine 3 Series but it sits in a modified CLAR architecture to fit an electric drivetrain. The exterior has several similarities with the 4 Series, while boasting of simple design highlights seen in eco-friendly vehicles.
Externally, the upcoming BMW i4 has a closed-off front grille section, sleek looking LED headlights, wrapped LED taillights with little sculpted boots, blue accents, chromed window lines, coupe-ish roofline, and rear glass. , Newly designed wheels, a pair of large kidney grills, forward skinned bonnet etc.
The interior of the electric sedan includes a number of in-car connectivity options, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and iDrive OS8, ventilation seats, a 14.9-inch curved digital display, triple-zone automatic climate control, and more. In the international market, the BMW i4 gets an eDrive40 trim capable of developing 340 hp and 430 Nm.
The electric motor drives the rear wheels and is claimed to have a time of 0-100 kmph 5.7 seconds when the range-topping M50 xDrive comes with a more powerful twin electric motor setup for running four wheels. The system generates 544 hp and 795 nm, and both variants are equipped with an 83.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack mounted on the floor.
The BMW i4 rivals the global Audi E-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan. The AWD variant has a Sport Boost mode that opens up full potential for 10 seconds and can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.9 seconds. The claimed range of RWD variant is 590 kms whereas AWD is rated as 510 kms driving range on single charge in WLTP cycle.
