Production-spec Tata Altroz EV is expected to have its world premiere before launch in the market next month
Tata Motors certainly has a role to play in the passenger electric vehicle segment, courtesy of the good reception for the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. The Nexon EV brand is expected to launch a long-range version of the electric SUV in April 2022, helping the brand gain a lion’s share of market share in the zero-emissions space and capitalize on its popularity.
With a larger battery pack, the high-range 2022 Tata Nexon EV will expand with a claimed range of about 400 kilometers on a single charge. It has been tested several times in recent months, further fueling rumors of a launch. However, we suspect that the 19-second teaser video released by Tata is a brand new product instead.
The teaser video shows nothing more than an electrically driven car except for the exterior texture, and the first element shown may be a sharp front bumper with a profile-like splitter. As we move forward with the teaser, the smoother bodywork seems to be a smaller Altroz EV based on the ALFA platform rather than the upcoming Nexon EV.

The Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture debuted at the Altroz in early 2020 and is also featured in the recently launched Punch micro SUV. The platform is capable of creating electrical models, the Altroz EV could be the next line. It will be below the Nexon EV and will expect a claimed driving range of more than 300 kilometers on a single charge, if it uses the same battery pack as its SUV siblings.
Tata recently announced a new EV-only sub-brand called TPEML (Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited) which has funding. 7,500 crore. Over the next five years, a total of ten new electric vehicles are expected to emerge from it, and the Altroz EV could be the first model before the bound medium-sized SUV coupe for 2023.
The company seems to be working on three EV platforms to improve its EV future, taking a dedicated skateboard, Sigma and ICE-based base spotlights found in recent models. Tata says the upcoming EV will be stunning, dynamic and electrifying with an EvolveToFuture hashtag and it will be unveiled on April 6, 2022 at 12 midnight IST.
