The Tata Electric SUV Concept will have its world premiere on April 6, 2022 and the teaser video gives a glimpse of what to expect

It is clear from the first teaser that Tata Motors does not have a long-range Nexon EV under the screen for its debut on April 6, 2022. The next teaser video focuses on the future and points to something new With Mahindra unveiling a triple of future electric vehicle concepts later this year, Tata could preview its upcoming range with a new SUV that gives us a glimpse into the zero-emissions future.

The domestic manufacturer is currently leading the passenger electric vehicle space in India, courtesy of the good reception for the Nexon EV and Tiger EV. Based on its commitment, Tata recently announced a new standalone sub-brand of EV, known as TPEML (Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited), with an investment of Rs. 15,000 crore for product development.

The brand aims to launch ten new EVs in the next five years. The electric SUV concept comes under the TPEML umbrella and could be a design study of a medium-sized electric SUV coupe or Sierra EV, which was already unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo as a modern concept adopting styling signals from the past.

With the long-range Nexon EV and the production-spec Altose EV moving out of the equation, the Punch EV is thought to be very optimistic. Tata is currently building an SUV coupe based on the sub-four-meter Nexon X1 platform and will have a larger proportion and differently styled front and rear profiles when sharing body panels.

It will bring an electric drivetrain from the upcoming long-range Nexon EV that is capable of a claimed driving range of more than 400 kilometers on a single charge. There is a possibility to preview the electric SUV concept which the very model considers considering that it is expected to launch early next year (fashion similar to the 45X concept and Altroz ‚Äč‚Äčtransition). The teaser video shows the presence of a thick LED strip covering the front width of the SUV with a Tata badge in the middle, and it extends to the bonnet as well as the wing mirror.

Triangular bumper-mounted headlamps, futuristic alloy wheels, AG bodywork, heavy racked rear glass area, narrow spoiler, deep grooved window area, heavy tapered roofline and an EV badge can also be noticed. While smartly concealing its identity, if it is not a medium-sized SUV coupe, it could be the first Sigma platform-based SUV (born electric) derived from Modular Alpha, then set the spotlight on the Sierra EV again or a flagship along the Harrier and Safari lines.
