Production versions of the Tata Curvv Concept will be offered in all-electric, petrol and diesel variants, and the first EV will be launched by 2024.

Tata Motors will launch its first-class SUV Coupe in the domestic market in the next two years and it has been in development for quite some time. It will be on top of the existing Nexon compact SUV and the overall length of the ICE version will be about 4.3 meters so that rivals Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Nissan Kicks, MG Astor, etc.

The mid-sized SUV coupe will be underpinned by the Generation 2 platform and has a close relationship with the Blackbird project that was envisioned four years ago. Compared to the Nexon, its front and rear edges will be separated to distinguish itself as a medium-sized SUV, and obviously, the rear doors will be longer with an extended rear overhang.

The length of the wheelbase will also increase by 50mm as the geometry of the wheels will change. In order to keep production costs low, some body panels, windscreens, doors, etc. will be shared with Nexon, and the brand’s preference for safety also makes it more likely to get a five-star mid-size SUV coupe in the global NCAP safety rating. Long rear overhangs can help in a Rumier cabin for rear occupants and, instead, large bootspace. The production version of the Curvv SUV Coupe concept will initially be introduced as an all-electric model while petrol and diesel versions are also expected to arrive in the near future.

The medium-sized SUV coupe with an electric powertrain can be equipped with a large battery pack that can travel 400-500 km on a single charge as the Zen2 architecture is said to accommodate different body styles and larger battery packs. It can improve charging time with faster charger rate than Ziptron-based Nexon EV and Tigor EV.

The ICE SUV Coupe will have a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine powered by the existing 1.2-liter three-pot Revotron petrol unit that produces about 160 hp. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel mill will produce more power and torque than the same engine currently used in the Nexus.
