The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Alto is expected to go on sale later this year or early 2023 with several changes inside and out.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is in the midst of a recent launch and several new models are waiting in the pipeline, including its next generation Alto. Over the past few months, MSIL has launched the second-gen Celerio, the widely updated Baleno, the MY2022 WagonR and others, while the Facelifted Ertiga and XL6 will be launched this month.

Their all-new Breza will follow in June 2022 when the mid-sized SUV, developed in collaboration with Toyota based on the DNGA platform, is expected to launch later this year. Since Maruti Suzuki has been testing the next generation Alto for several months now, we expect it to launch later this calendar year or early 2023.

The Alto has consistently held the record for being the best-selling passenger car in the country for millennia, and it has laid the groundwork for several entry-level cars from Indo-Japanese manufacturers, and most of them have been successful. Next year the Alto will be a big change for smaller hatchbacks inside and out.

With a wealth of changes, the all-new Maruti Suzuki Alto bar is expected to grow higher and set new standards in the volume-based entry-level segment. It will probably be based on the lightweight Hartekt architecture as the latest WagonR and Celerio and Spy images indicate that it will have a larger proportion than the outgoing model.

The larger scale means that the next generation Alto will offer a Rumier cabin for passengers. For the exterior, it will boast a newly designed front grille, new headlamps and tail lamps, front and rear updated bumpers, a set of newly designed wheels, a wide central air intake and much more. Significant changes will be made to the cabin as well as the exterior.

It is expected to have a top-spec variant with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity, an updated steering wheel and instrument cluster, and possibly a large touchscreen infotainment system with the use of advanced quality surface material. Underneath the bonnet, no major changes are expected in the upcoming Alto but don’t be surprised if the Powertrain is tuned for better mileage.

Currently, the 796 cc three-cylinder petrol engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT. The new 1.0-liter K10C three-cylinder dualjet petrol engine that debuted in the Celerio is more likely to be used in the next-gen Alto.
