Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the updated Ertiga and XL6, the highly modified Brezza and Baleno CNG in India in the next two months.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has been in the rhythm of launches in recent months as Celerio CNG, updated WagonR, Dzire CNG and extensively modified Baleno were available after the arrival of second generation Celerio in late 2021. In April 2022, the country’s largest carmaker Ertiga and the XL6 MPV are expected to launch mid-life updates.
They will be powered by a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder K15C petrol engine that produces about 115 hp and will replace the four-speed with a five-speed manual or a new six-speed torque converter automatic unit with paddle shifting function. AT as an alternative. The 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 may be available in six and seven-seater configurations.
The Indo-Japanese manufacturer is likely to launch the new generation Brezza by June 2022, with several changes inside and out. In the middle of this calendar year, Maruti Suzuki Baleno is expected to bring CNG while Ignis and S-Presso will get a new dual jet petrol engine that has seen an expansion in recent launches.
At Baleno, the 1.2-liter four-cylinder K12N petrol engine produces 90 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard or with a five-speed AMT as an alternative. The factory-installed CNG version is expected to be offered only with the premium hatchback’s manual gearbox.
Towards the end of 2022, Maruti Suzuki will launch a completely new medium-sized SUV built in collaboration with Toyota. It will be based on Toyota’s DNGA platform and is expected to be equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine with powerful hybrid technology and a dedicated EV-cable mode that can only help cover short distances in battery power.
The styling of the Maruti Suzuki midsize SUV may be influenced by the A-Cross sold worldwide and may result in a revised version of the Toyota RAV4 hybrid. MSIL seems to have a new compact SUV coupe based on Baleno’s architecture when the long-awaited Jimny Lifestyle Off-Roader could arrive in 2023.
