Maruti Celerio achieved sales figures of 6,442 units in March 2022, maintaining a strong YoY sales growth in the domestic market.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 6,442 units of Celerio in India, a strong sales growth of 36.48 per cent year-on-year (YoY). In March 2021, the Indo-Japanese carmaker sold 4,720 units of the hatchback in the domestic market.

In February 2022, Maruti Suzuki recorded sales figures of 9,896 units for the Celerio, which translates to a 34.90 percent decline in sales in March 2022. MoM sales figures have dropped significantly, and we believe the biggest culprit is production limitations, mainly due to the global shortage of semiconductor chips.

The current generation Maruti Celerio went on sale in our market in November last year, and it is recording overall better sales performance than the previous-gen version. The new-gen model has a smoother design, more efficient engine options, better cabin space and some extra features than its predecessor, which is one of the main reasons for its growing popularity.

The Maruti Celerio also comes with a 1.0-liter, naturally ambitious, inline-3 petrol engine under the hood. This powerplant is good for maximum power of 66.6 PS and maximum 89 Nm of torque, and the transmission choices here consist of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT. As mentioned earlier, a CNG option is also available (56.7 PS and 82.1 Nm), which only comes with the manual transmission option.

Maruti Suzuki claims fuel efficiency up to 26.68 kmpl for petrol AMT variant and up to 26.0 kmpl for petrol MT variants. For the CNG MT version of Celerio, the Fuel Economy rating is 35.60 km / kg, which is a very impressive figure. For those looking for an affordable, cheap to run commuter, this is a very attractive option.
