Several new electric cars are expected to be launched in India in the near future, and here, we have listed five highly anticipated upcoming EVs from Tata Motors
Tata Motors is currently leading the electric car market in India for the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. Indigenous automakers are planning to launch lots of EVs in different segments in our country soon to maintain the lead. The brand has already confirmed a few of these upcoming EVs, while speculation is rife about a few more.
Here, we’ve listed five upcoming Tata EVs that are coming in the coming years, which we look forward to.
1. Tata Nexon EV Long Range
Tata Motors is planning to update the Nexon EV in India soon, probably in the coming days. The electric SUV is expected to have a larger battery option, with some additional features, such as disc brakes on the rear wheels, more powerful electric motors, adjustable reproduction braking system, ventilated front seats, air purifier, cruise control, ESP, etc. Existing models (standard version with 30.2 kWh battery) will probably continue to sell.
2. Tata Ultroz EV
The Tata Altroz EV appeared in a near-production incarnation at the 2020 Auto Expo, but it has yet to enter production. According to estimates, electric hatchbacks will be launched in India in the near future as part of the manufacturer’s aggressive EV expansion plans. When the Altroz EV launches, its official driving range is expected to be around 250km / 300km.
3. Tata Punch EV
Tata Motors is considering adding more powertrain options to its mini-SUV-Punch, one of which will be the All-Electric One (EV powertrain). If and when it launches, the Tata Punch EV could be the most affordable electric passenger car in the lineup, probably with an official driving range of around 250 to 300 kilometers.
4. Tata Curve EV
The Tata Curvv concept was recently unveiled in India, as a preview of the brand’s upcoming coupe-style SUV. The domestic manufacturer has confirmed that Curvv will first launch as an EV, followed by an ICE version. The Tata Curvv EV is based on the ‘Generation 2’ architecture, and is expected to offer a driving range of up to 500 km, which will be quite an impressive achievement.
5. Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors is reported to have started work on the Sierra EV, which was previewed at the 2020 Auto Expo in concept form. It will be based on a new platform – SIGMA – an EV-specific architecture based on the brand’s ALFA platform. The new-gen Tata Sierra will be launched as an electric model only.
