Although the Mercedes-Benz AMG last year replaced its GT Roadstar with a redesigned 2022 SL, the coupe version of the GT sports car is stuck around and will be redesigned soon.
The latest spy shots and video show a prototype for the newly redesigned GT, which we are currently hoping to release later this year or early next. The car should come as a 2024 model.
The redesigned GT will ride on a newly developed platform known as MSA (Modular Sports Architecture), which debuted in the redesigned SL. Our spy footage suggests that the GT and SL will have the same proportions, but with unique lights and fascia designs to help distinguish them.
Naturally, there will be more differences than styles between the two cars. For example, the SL has a convertible top and 2 + 2 seats. The GT will only have a coupe at this time and will be attached to a two-seater cabin. The GT should have more hardcore tuning features than the SL, as SL is more appealing to buyers looking for performance combined with luxury and comfort, where GT buyers are generally concerned about performance.

We can’t see the interior but there should be differences here too. It is possible that the large tablet screen in the center stack found in the GT SL will be avoided.
Like the SL, the GT should feature the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and 9-speed automatic as standard. However, it is certain that variants of the GT will offer more power than the SL, which currently tops at 577 hp. The GT should be standard with rear-wheel drive and have all-wheel drive as an alternative. In SL, the all-wheel drive standard.
